The war between the righteous sects who protected justice and the people, and the evil Demon Cult, came to an end with the death of the Demon Cult's leader. The martial arts world enjoyed a brief period of peace as the righteous sects and the Demon Cult signed a peace treaty. Meanwhile, Sowol of the Mudang Sect, who possesses absolute martial arts skills but conceals them while playing the fool, lives his days drinking and gambling. One day, by the order of his sect leader, he sets out on a journey to the Murim Alliance along with his senior disciple Moon Ji-seo and a beautiful young disciple Yang So-ha.
During their journey, they encounter and join forces with Paeng No-ak of the Murim Alliance, who notices Sowol's power and suspects him of being a Demon Cult spy. Upon arriving at the Murim Alliance, Sowol discovers growing internal conflicts between different factions within the alliance. He also senses that the previously quiet Demon Cult seems to be secretly plotting something.
In the midst of all this, Sowol's group becomes embroiled in various incidents, and Sowol even gets falsely accused of being a Demon Cult spy. As tensions rise toward another war with the Demon Cult, the reason why Sowol has been hiding his abilities and his hidden past are about to be revealed...
